The Bread of Adversity

Updated: Oct 12, 2023

In bed this morning, God showed me food being brought to me on a tray, much as is done in the hospital. In the first vision, the bowl was filled with something unidentifiable and not especially appetizing looking. But the texture reminded me of an an Azeri dish that I learned to make-- Equal parts of egg plant, tomatoes, and onions, cooked down and cooked together. (Needs salt, but filling.)

And then God showed me a different bowl. This was soup. Hands were tearing open a foil packet and emptying the contents into the bowl, but all I could see was green leafy slimy stuff floating on top. It looked like seaweed, or more likely spinach. I LOVE raw spinach salad. But cooked spinach? Disgusting! God, what does this mean?

Then a Bible verse came to mind: "Though I give you the bread of adversity and water of affliction..." What?!? I googled it, and found it is in Isaiah 30:20. Here is Isaiah 30:19-21, quoted from the NIV:

"Oh people of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. How gracious he will be when you cry for help! As soon as he hears, he will answer you. Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them. Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your hears will hear a voice behind you saying, 'This is the way, walk in it.' "

Weeping now. Thank you God.

Eggplant, tomatoes and onions actually doesn't sound terrible... maybe throw some ground sausage in for good measure... yummy!

I wish! Sadly, I have a stupid disease that makes me allergic to meat. Sound yummy with sausage though.
