For the Grieving

Some of us are hurting tonight. Some of your griefs I am aware of, and you are on my heart tonight. But this post may find others of you that I don't know well, or I haven't kept up with enough to know your story, but this song came to mind and I wanted to share it with you.

Many times, we as Christians seem to think that we should have a pain-free life. Like perhaps suffering or pain must be God punishing us for our sin. And maybe if we were spiritual enough, maybe we wouldn't be hurting so much. But Scripture doesn't teach that. In Isaiah 53, the Message tells us about God's son, the Messiah Jesus:

"Still, it's what GOD had in mind all along, to crush him with pain."

Over and over again, Jesus told his followers that he was going to Jerusalem where he must suffer and die. And later be raised to life. If suffering was such a key element of Jesus' life, why do I think I will have it easy?

Some of us have sick children, have lost spouses or parents recently, or expect to lose them soon. Others are watching their carefully laid plans and dreams of many years burn up. And the glowing sparks and ashes are flying around you even now. But... God is here, and He sees.

If you are grieving and need a friend, please message me. I would love to listen and to pray with you. And listen to this song, born in pain. I didn't write it, but it moves me. Sometimes God gives songs, and often, the best ones come in times of sorrow. Much like this song "Micacles".

The one who made the blind to see

Is moving here in front of me

Moving here in front of me The one who made the deaf to hear Is silencing my every fear

Silencing my every fear

I believe in You, I believe in You You're the God of Miracles

The one who does impossible

Is reaching out to make me whole

Reaching out to make me whole

The one who put death in its place

His life is flowing through my veins

His life is flowing through my veins!

I believe in You, I believe in You

You're the God of Miracles

The God who was and is to come

The power of the Risen One

The God who brings the dead to life You're the God of miracles You're the God of miracles

I believe in You, I believe in You

You're the God of Miracles
