This passage in Matthew 11:28-30 really moved me this morning. And now again tonight. I am quoting from The Message:
Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me-- watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly.
"Taking a real rest." That sounds pretty good, God! And really, that's where God has me right now. A place of rest. It's not heavy or ill-fitting. This hospital room is a place of quiet. No real responsibilities. I can journal, read my bible, blog, work on a book, or catch up with old friends. I exercise by climbing the stairs every day, and have even been working on a song! I am physically comfortable right now, and all my needs are met. I can think of far FAR worse places to be.
So don't pity me. Don't fret over me. God's promise in the above passage is to not lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on me, and he hasn't. I am in this place at His pleasure and under His protection, and when he is finished with me here, he will bring me out.
Thank you for all the love and prayers.
(Please don't stop!)
